What this site is
Edging looks simple until it heaves in spring, lets the lawn creep into the bed, or rusts onto the patio. The material, the depth and the way it is anchored all matter, and most listings skip that. We built this site to be the reference we wanted: section drawings of how each type sits in the ground, the numbers that matter, and plain instructions for the jobs people actually do.
How we choose
We have not tested these products ourselves. Nothing on this site claims hands-on testing, lab results or scores of our own. Instead:
- Practice comes from extension and trade sources. Depth, base and anchoring advice comes from sources such as University of Illinois Extension, the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and garden center guides such as Gertens.
- Costs come from published cost guides. Per-foot prices are quoted from guides such as LawnStarter and Lawn Love, with their dates. They are ranges, not quotes.
- Product details are labeled as maker or seller claims. When a listing says a kit includes 16 spikes or a strip is 5 inches tall, we say where that comes from, and we tell you to check the box.
- We recommend types, then show current listings. Shop buttons are searches for the right type of edging, not a single product we vouch for.
- No scores, no star ratings, no prices from retailers. Listings change daily and we have no test data to score with.
- Uncertain means we say so. Where sources disagree, such as exact burial depth, we give the range and tell you to follow the product instructions.
How the site earns
Some links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. If you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what we recommend. Details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
Safety
Call 811 before you dig a trench or drive long stakes; utility lines can be shallow. Metal edging can have a sharp top edge. Wear gloves and eye protection when cutting or hammering.
Corrections
Product lines and listings change. We review pages regularly and each page shows when it was last reviewed.
Who we are
Landscaping Edging is operated by WellTracked, a small publisher of independent guides. We are not affiliated with any edging brand, manufacturer or retailer.
